Kitchen Under the Stairs
I am calling this week the 'challenging-little-kitchen-design' week. I have two kitchens that I am working on and one of them is located under the stairs. Here are some great and stylish examples that I found.

Garden Wallpaper
Varklocka wallpaper by Josef Franks |
The clean lines of the Kartell pendant light works well with the detailed wallpaper. |
I don't usually choose wallpaper as detailed as the one above - however, I have a job where the wallpaper will only take up less than half a wall above existing white painted panelling. So with the panels below to balance it off, more detailed and small patterns is welcomed for a change.
Love this botanical one above, found in a Sydney home, by Josef Frank (who emigrated to Sweden in the 1930's) - it's like walking through a garden.

Axe Restaurant by Laure Joliet
Photographer Laure Joliet has been capturing recommended eateries around LA for Remodelista - featured here is Axe restaurant found on Venice Beach. Simple, solid and soulful interiors which suit the Californian vibe and the 'honest food' menu. Read more about this restaurant here.
Sorry for the lack of action on the blog this week - my email was hacked and the crummy hackers spammed my entire address book! So I had to clean up the mess and sort out my new email address. If you were affected by the spam, please know that I am not in Spain needing money! Thanks.

Bedroom in a Barn
Spotted On Remodelista - this lovely barn bedroom scene with a divine cow blanket! This is a range of bedlinen designed by stylish actress, Diane Keaton called K by Keaton and sold in the USA through Bed Bath and Beyond.
Read Keaton's Q&A here about her design choices and ideas for the bedroom.Photograph via Remodelista.
Round Leather Mirror by Adnet
Spotted on Remodelista - these stylish round leather campaign-style mirrors designed by French architect Jacques Adnet (1900-1984). Available from Gubi, the Adnet mirror is beautifully constructed with leather straps and brass details. What also makes the mirror unique is the strap that holds the mirror is in direct proportion to the dimension of the mirror. Stunning. Check out the exceptional staged interiors by Gubi (above) that exhibit the mirrors in true stylish form.

How cool is this Scandinavian beach house with the glossy blue floor? Remodelista have posted this image just today, however I couldn't resist and had to share. I've seen so many examples of white and dark painted floors - it's refreshing to see this summery bolt of blue for a change.
I Like...
My lovely training buddy and ally left me this week to move to Melbourne. How am I going to face Alice every week without you, Jan? So I thought if you're heading to Melbourne, you better check out this cafe, Capital Kitchen for me. Remodelista recently profiled it and I think it looks pretty cool. Designed by Mim Design, I like the modern country feel of this space. Great use of the Tolix chairs/stools and the Caravaggio pendants throughout.

Campaign Chairs
I like this simple bathroom from South Africa via Remodelista.
I noticed the Campaign chair (to the right) immediately - I love these chairs. They're very British Colonial and so 'Out of Africa' (who doesn't love that film?!).
I grew up with a pair of Campaign chairs - my parents had them in chrome yellow (wouldn't they be incredibly hip right now). Several decades later they're now in black and still look very stylish in their home. I would happily have a pair of leather ones like below.

Sequined Wall
All us ladies know that sequins is very much the fashion right now (if you didn't know that, well now you do! Check out USA fashion brand JCrew Spring 2011 preview courstey of Habitually Chic which shows several sequins items). Remodelista has posted about a store which shows how sequins can done interior design-style. Fashion designer Erica Tanov was inspired by brass coloured sequins and it was re-created in larger scale for her fashion store in California. Read more about the gorgeous wall here.

Celebrity Style - Sarah Jessica Parker
It's always interesting to see how the celebrities live, isn't it?
Here is an Elle Decor article on Sarah Jessica Parker's Bridgehampton holiday house designed by Eric Hughes. I came across this via Remodelista who profiled the bathroom and kitchen as Steal this Look chapters.
I like that it is a fresh, comfortable and a very liveable home - not fancy or showy at all.
