Mother's Day from Minty & Co.

/ Monday, April 23, 2012 /
The cult classic Smith's Rosebud Salve and Minted Rose Lip Balm- a perfect little gift for your Mum.

The exquiste poetry book A Once Courageous Heart by Kylie Johnson.

Beautiful pages from the book...

Don't forget that it is Mother's Day on Sunday 13th of May - which, at the speed that this year has been going by, will be here before you know it.
Here are two great gift ideas from Minty & Co for your lovely Mums. They would love the gorgeous Smith's Rosebud Salve or the Smith's Minted Rose Lip Balm (my favourite). I was introduced to the Rosebud Perfume Company when a friend gifted me the Minted Rose Lip Balm from his trip to the USA. The Rosebud Salve is the flagship product from Rosebud Perfume Company (still a family owned business) and is a true beauty classic. It has been around since 1895.
Also available from Minty & Co is the exquiste book, Once a Courageous Heart by Kylie Johnson.  This book is a collection of poetry bound in a rich dark brown cloth and printed on beautiful cream paper. The text is in brown and blue and features original illustrations. It is truly a unique book.
Minty & Co will giftwrap these Mother Day's gifts for you - shop at Minty & Co here.

Stylish Home of a Book Publisher

/ Thursday, January 5, 2012 /

I love books so when I saw the home of Angelika Taschen, a book publisher, on The Selby, I could not be anything but impressed. Not only does she publish great books and get to take them home, she has one stylish and beautifully composed home in Berlin. Nice.

Happy New Year All

/ Friday, December 30, 2011 /

Christmas day was a lovely day with my family and I hope your day was special too.
Our gorgeous summer weather has been temporaily suspended with a rather large dose of rain - however, I am looking forward to 2012 and to seeing the hot summer sunshine back very soon.
Charlotte Minty Interior Design wishes you a Happy New Year and have a great evening. Roll on 2012!
Enjoy this summery hallway from an Italian apartment found in Sibella Court's new book, Nomad.

Spaces for Reading.

/ Thursday, October 27, 2011 /

This weekend I have a few things organised, however I know I will making the most of some time out and doing some reading. I have a stash of great books to get through thanks to friends and my bookclub. I'm looking forward to it.
Enjoy the great reading spots in the interiors above - all from Lonny. I tend to venture between my bed and the sofa for a good comfortable read. Happy Friday all.

Sibella Court's Stylist Guide to NYC

/ Sunday, June 19, 2011 /
I have been updating my Amazon bookstore and there is one book I am most keen to get my hands on - it is 'The Stylist's Guide to NYC' by interior stylist and The Society Inc creator, Sibella Court. I am planning my next trip to exciting New York City and this book couldn't be a better guide. Sibella Court lived and worked in the city over a 15 year period and is in the know for the best places to go. I'm looking forward to reading the richly visual chapters and finding out places for the likes of 'Scents and Flower Merchants', 'Furniture and Interiors' and 'Kitchen and Table Paraphernalia'.

The book is filled with rich visuals and text.

John Pawson : Plain Space - The Book.

/ Monday, November 29, 2010 /

Architect John Pawson with the book.

John Pawson : Plain Space by Alison Morris
In Plain Space, author Alison Morris presents both this recent body of work and earlier projects from the perspective of someone who has had unique access to the work and archives of the office. In thematic essays and narrative project descriptions she examines the firm's working processes, relationship with clients, and approach to design. These insights into how Pawson and his office approach all different kinds of projects, including a cricket pavilion, a ballet stage set, apartment and boat interiors, will be of interest to architects, students, and anyone looking to simplify and beautify their own living space. Filled with exquisite photographs and detailed drawings, Plain Space will be the next must-have book for fans of John Pawson and a perfect introduction to his work for anyone interested in the absolute best of contemporary design.
I have definitely added this book to my wishlist and to my amazon.com bookstore - simply click on my bookstore on the right hand side of my blog and have a closer look.

Book - Simple Home

/ Saturday, September 11, 2010 /

I was in Small Acorns last week and while talking to the lovely Amanda, my eye spied a great book. It was Simple Home by Mark and Sally Bailey. When I pointed it out to Amanda, she mentioned their great website and 'Baileys Home Store' business that they have in the UK.
Mark and Sally Bailey believe in the repair, reuse and rethink philosophy - so their style is a mix of vintage and new. Check out their mail order store and see the amazing products that they source. Their Whitecross Farm would be a world to behold as you venture from one building to another to see all their collected products. Amazing. Unfortunately they do not deliver to New Zealand...yet.
Interior Design books and magazines should be inspirational and I have started my own Amazon bookstore, which you can see to the side of my blog. If you want to know what is on my bookshelf, what books I think are great and some books that I yearn for - check out my Amazon store and I'll keep updating it over time.
