Modern and Traditional Swedish Summer House

/ Sunday, January 27, 2013 /
Truedatorp - an 18th century farmstead which has been transform into a summer house/studio
by a Copenhagen architect and designer duo.

19th century wallpapers found on site during the renovations have been preserved and framed.

Yes - that is the outhouse, which has a stylish modern touch - an Arne Jacobsen's AJ wall lamp.

Found in Dwell magazine - Truedatorp, an 18th century Swedish farmstead which has slowly been transformed from its original state into a simple summer house and studio by Copenhagen couple, Mads Odgard, a designer and Mette Lyng Hansen, an architect. Loving the simple touches and furnishings. Read more about the home and the renovation process here.

Stylish Interior Designer's Home

/ Tuesday, May 29, 2012 /

Tyler used Ikea kitchen cabinetry which she wrapped with custom made oak bench tops.

The dining table with a set of 50's Carl Jacob Jason chairs that Tyler found on ebay.

A Knoll sofa in the living area.
A Nelson Platfrom bench acts as the coffee table and Tablo side tables from Design House Stockholm.

I remember very well seeing this house when it was featured on an episode of Grand Designs a couple of years ago (do you watch this show? Isn't host Kevin McLeod great?) so when I spotted it in Dwell, it was great to be able to have a closer look. This house was designed by interior designer, Kathryn Tyler and she built her home around her vintage furniture collection that she had amassed previously over the years. Read more about it here.

Another NZ Holiday Home from Dwell.

The view of Kapiti Island from this Paraparaumu Beach bach.

The Parsonson family taking it easy at their holiday home.

Open plan space for easy living.

Jeremey Hansen, the editor from Home NZ magazine, wrote this holiday home feature for the June issue of Dwell magazine this year. It features the Paraparaumu Beach bach belonging to Architect Gerald Parsonson and his family. While the house is modern, it has been intentionally kept simple and humble, giving a sense of ease and relaxed living as a holiday home should be. The bach's surrounding landscape is left untouched as to enjoy the surrounding dune-lands and views of Kapiti  Island. To read the article by Hansen and photographs by Matthew Williams, check it out here.
