Modern and Traditional Swedish Summer House

/ Sunday, January 27, 2013 /
Truedatorp - an 18th century farmstead which has been transform into a summer house/studio
by a Copenhagen architect and designer duo.

19th century wallpapers found on site during the renovations have been preserved and framed.

Yes - that is the outhouse, which has a stylish modern touch - an Arne Jacobsen's AJ wall lamp.

Found in Dwell magazine - Truedatorp, an 18th century Swedish farmstead which has slowly been transformed from its original state into a simple summer house and studio by Copenhagen couple, Mads Odgard, a designer and Mette Lyng Hansen, an architect. Loving the simple touches and furnishings. Read more about the home and the renovation process here.

Republic of Fritz Hansen's Showroom in Milan

/ Wednesday, January 16, 2013 /

I came across this canteen belonging to Republic of Fritz Hansen and had a drool - imagine having your meals sitting in and surrounded by the top design classics in the last century. Then I found their new Milan showroom which opened in December - even better! I could walk out with all the pieces and the spaces are stunning.
Designed by Arianna Lelli Mami and Chiara Di Pinto from Studiopepe with architect Stefano Tagliacarne.

More of Ett Hem Stockholm

/ Monday, January 14, 2013 /

I previously posted about Ett Hem Stockholm, a Swedish luxury 12 room hotel, in May last year and I came across these extra images that show more of the interiors - such an array of furnishings, materials and rich details. Designed by Ilse Crawford of Studio Ilse, Swedish architect, Anders Landstrom and hotel owner, Jeanette Mix, Ett Hem Stockholm is about "feeling at home, but ten times better".

Ferm Living SS 2013

/ Thursday, January 10, 2013 /

The new Ferm Living catalogue for Summer Spring 2013 has been released and it is a continuation of the graphic, retro-modern mix that the Danish company does so well. I love the slightly bleached out effect of the photography, the great styling and of course, their cool products. See the whole catalogue here.

Blue Kitchen

/ Wednesday, December 12, 2012 /

I am working on a lot of kitchens at the moment - so while researching I've noticed that I definitely pause and admire the kitchens with colour. While you can't go wrong with a classic white kitchens, there is something rather lovely about the depth and richness of using a colour, like this calm blue grey one in Copenhagen, designed by Kobenhavns Mobelsnedkeri. It contrast beautifully with the timber floor and the dark hardware.

New Norm Dinnerware

/ Sunday, December 2, 2012 /

I had to share these beautiful images of the New Norm Dinnerware, designed by Copenhagen architecture and design firm, Norm and produced by Danish designhouse, Menu.
"When midsummer’s blue skies transform to the grey depths of autumn … When the dense forest tranquillity opens harmoniously on to the fresh and rolling sea … When the changing light, landscape and seasons are both an essential part of life and a source of eternal joy … Then you are in Scandinavia." The dinnerware range is centred around the basic white plate, which can change its look with a smaller grey or blue plate. Beautiful.
