This is Laurel Hardware  - a former hardware store which has been reincarnated into a restaurant and bar earlier this year. Located near Laurel Canyon in West Hollywood, this establishment has retain the old fashioned charm of the former store, while creating a homey spirit and fresh vibe with the new installation. Check out the amazing back courtyard and I love the contrast between the fresh white tiled eating area and the moody bar at the back. Designed by Sam Marshall.

A Cool Nursery

I love it when I see a cool nursery that does not go down the typical baby blue or baby pink route - this one was styled by the clever Morgan Satterfield (check out her blog The Brick House).

Recycling Coney Island Boardwalk

There was an article recently in the NY Times exploring the all the places that the reclaimed timber from Coney Island Boardwalk ended up. Some of the end results included the floor in a musuem, a public pool, a coffee bar and the Venice, California home (above) belonging to chef, Travis Lett. It's fascinating to hear about how this historical, well worn and endangered timber ended up all over the USA in its new uses - read it here.

Check out this very stylish hair salon, Morrison Hair Co. at Laguna Beach, California. Located at a spanish style house, the design combination of an upmarket salon with a relaxed 'home' vibe is successfully achieved. The waiting area is like a comfortable living room and there is no distinct 'reception' area, yet the salon remains professional with the clean lines and industrial furnishings. See more about this great salon and its transformation here.

Cool Architect's Apartment in Berlin

Here is a great apartment in Berlin belonging to architects and partners, Christoph Roedig and Uli Schop. Photographer Laure Joliet recorded this apartment while visiting Berlin to take photographs of Roedig and Schop's work - see her '24 hours in Berlin' here. I like the eclectic mix of furnishings and arrangements which soften the stark concrete shell.
