Spindle Back Chairs

Host restaurant in Copenhagen, Denmark by Norm Architects.

Hyperion Public restaurant in Los Angeles, USA by Claire Stansfield

I love the use of the spindle back dining chairs in these two diverse restaurants from opposite sides of the world. I think there may be a childhood influence here as I seem to recall a similar chair when I was younger. The chairs rock in the black, whites and greys.

Laurel Hardware

This is Laurel Hardware  - a former hardware store which has been reincarnated into a restaurant and bar earlier this year. Located near Laurel Canyon in West Hollywood, this establishment has retain the old fashioned charm of the former store, while creating a homey spirit and fresh vibe with the new installation. Check out the amazing back courtyard and I love the contrast between the fresh white tiled eating area and the moody bar at the back. Designed by Sam Marshall.

Los Angeles Home of Amanda Peet from Vogue.

My, it's bone cold here in Wellington this afternoon. What is hard about this cold season is that all the northern hemisphere's publications come out with light and bright summery images - do they really need to do that?
Here is the delighful and summery garden/home of actress, Amanda Peet, located in Los Angeles from Vogue. Read the article here.

Axe Restaurant by Laure Joliet

Photographer Laure Joliet has been capturing recommended eateries around LA for Remodelista - featured here is Axe restaurant found on Venice Beach. Simple, solid and soulful interiors which suit the Californian vibe and the 'honest food' menu. Read more about this restaurant here.

Sorry for the lack of action on the blog this week - my email was hacked and the crummy hackers spammed my entire address book! So I had to clean up the mess and sort out my new email address. If you were affected by the spam, please know that I am not in Spain needing money! Thanks.

Escaping...

I am escaping this weekend and heading out of town with some good friends. So to get in the mood, here is a sweet guest house in Los Feliz designed by LA based designer, Alexandra Angle. She has combined Scandinavian pieces with a fresh Californian aesthetic.
Have a good weekend all.

Ice Cube Celebrates the Eames

Love this video from Ice Cube talking about the Ray and Charles Eames in LA. Ice Cube studied architecture before his rap career took off. Gangsta talk and architecture - what a great mix.
